This book is mostly about hip hop and not too much about Eminem. I'm having a hard time getting through it. Anthony Bozza's books are normally very good (Slash, Too Fat to Fish and Tommyland). This one is not nearly as good.

Good background info.

The book provides very interesting insight into Eminem's early career, but stops around 2003. I think that there is a lot more story to be told in the time between 2003 and now.

This is a good book that could have been great. It features a strong opening section in which Lakoff explicates on his basic concept of frames and how they relate to the brain's structure and functioning. Keeping a laser focus on that concept would have yielded a shorter book but one that's better than this one. Unfortunately, after a terrific start, Lakoff spends the final third of the book mostly riffing about policy issues themselves, rather than about how to frame them effectively. At this point, the book reads like an audition for gig as a pundit at the Washington Post instead of a primer on communicating effectively. And there's an awful lot of filler. (You can tell an author's padding when he unnecessarily resorts to lists. Lakoff has lots and lots of them, none helpful.)If you're interested in the field of political communication, this book is a must-read in spite of its shortcomings. But for me it was difficult to not think of the book that it shoulda, coulda, woulda been with much more focus and a few more real world examples.

About half way through reading, but this is a keeper. We have constant discussions about "why can't the other side see the truth" and "why don't they hear facts and believe them". This book explains it all. I'm hoping that the end will give examples of how to respond to specific questions/topics. This topic is one no one knows or talks about but it is present in everyday political and religious conversations.If someone asked for one reason why they should read, I guess my reply would be that you need to understand that your brain cannot understand a topic unless it has been previously introduced - we do this with 'frames' and this book will explain why people of different political beliefs differ so much

I like Lakoff’s cognitive approach and book-ending answers to conversing with slogan-laden so-called conservatives who beat up progressive and longtime tried and true American values with government by corporate power$. Many on both sides share these values, but that is obscured by past 3 years of jingoistic jousting.HavingRead the book, The Family, as I did: it traces how today’s government fulfills plans set in motion early in 20th century, Lakoff’s is a modern updated book with tips for undoing the work of all those decades-secret agendas for a different America, never envisioned in our important documents. Read, as I did, hundreds of original documents. Textbooks are published to sell, and wow! They are now simply deleting historical facts to sell to the audience which wants our nation’s past revamped.

Mr. Lakoff's book is a primer on talking to people on the right in a way that will more likely create understanding.Mr. Lakoff makes a cogent case that the primary issue is the way in which an issue is "framed." When we start to argue our point using the terminology of our opponent. it's giving your opponent the home field advantage. Not only have we assured we will lose the argument, we also practically assure that we will never find a meeting of the minds. We need to begin from a standpoint of shared values.The current antagonism between progressives and the right has a life of its own, and can poison any discussion from its beginning. This book offers positive ways to approach that problem.The final and most useful section is "How to respond to Conservatives." It offers many good guidelines. There are so many suggestions, I read that section several times to take it all in.Even though I avoid debates because of the anger they inevitably create, after reading the last chapter, I almost felt like seeking out a conservative to try to have a positive dialogue, and now I feel far more ready whenever that kind of conversation comes up.

I read the original and am enjoying the updated version. However, I made the mistake of ordering the audio version too. The person who reads it sounds like he doesn't understand what he is reading. It is very annoying and you can't get your money back.

This book is a must read for anyone who wonders why Democrats, Liberals, Progressives, etc. keep losing elections in spite of being the majority of the voters. Lackoff is masterful in explaining how our subconscious brains work and take the "frames" of the right wing and incorporate them into our own thinking. He expertly explains the difference in the Conservative Strong Father model and the Liberal Two Parent Egalitarian model. The strong father model is reinforced in families that practice most religions and it is reinforced in military service. Liberals have very little reinforcement of their two parent egalitarian model other than in liberal universities. I have a much clearer understanding of my culture now and I also learned a lot about how to frame my own values, rather than repeating the Fox News frames that are heard by most people, most often."

This book made me realize so many things about American society and how we can overcome difficult times by using communications. It was fascinating to read plans that Democrats, or Republicans, can take to mold this place differently. I thoroughly enjoyed this book, and even if you disagree with his views, you can still take away the ideas.

Insight and tips included to make the experience more rewarding also. Definitely one of the better Linux books I've read in the last few years and worth the small investment.

Wireless hacking is pretty easy to do relative to a number of other things you would do in the world of offensive security mainly due to the fact that you need not have any programming experience to pull it off.Much of it is simply a matter of memorizing the proper terminal commands and knowing when to use them, and this book covers this perfectly. Some of the things included in this book are:-How to install BackTrack 5 and set up a hack lab-General information on WLAN frames and the 802.11 protocol system-Some basic use of Wireshark to collect information on the network or area you are in (you'll know why https is important)-Cracking WEP, WPA, WPA2, and even getting past things like MAC filtering-Denial of service attacks (a complete jackass could really abuse this information if they are in a coffee shop)And so on. I won't go into too much detail except to say that this book can be used by anyone with no prior BackTrack experience so long as they are willing to set some time aside to try the things in this book. It truly gets right to the point about how to perform an attack first (so impatience is less of a problem) and then explaining why you ended up with the result that you got (if the attack was done correctly).For anyone interested in BackTrack, Wifi cracking, or hacking in general, this book is a must have!

well writen. If any one can not follow this book, then you cannot follow directions. I bought the hardware as directed, but added my own twist to make this book work for me and my intentions. I also like the the fact that it makes you work for that extra info. The info is out there, if I wanted to know more then I researched it. if anyone says they have read this book and it did not work for them then they cannot follow directions, or they want it (knowledge) handed To them. I am well versed in theory, I like to get my hands dirty and get to work. Time for some action. Wish more books were written like this. Good work.

I've read this book at least 3 times! If you're new to Backtrack 5 and the Aircrack suite of tools then you must read this book. It's great for beginners and intermediates. I would recommend some basic Linux skills, but it's really not required. Vivek explains the commands in a concise way. You'll learn how to crack WEP and WPA/WPA2. Learn how to use airmon, aircrack, aireplay, airodump, airolib, airdecap, genpmk, cowpatty, pyrit, and more. He also explains how to create various wifi filters in Wireshark and gives just enough background to understand the all of the commands. You'll also create rogue access points with airbase and how to a bridge interfaces with brctl. Vivek is the inventor of the Caffe Latte attack, which is used to attack WEP using just the client as the target. The end of every chapter has a pop-quiz to test what you've learned, and at the end of the book he brings it all together with a WLAN pen-testing methodology including planning, discovering, attacking, and reporting. The appendix includes many resources to help you build an advanced wifi lab.In summary: A very hands-on book that guides you -- step-by-step, start to finish -- in executing a successful wireless penetration test. It also has very high re-use value.I would highly recommend getting an Alfa wireless adapter along with this book. I bought the Alfa model AWUS036H here on Amazon for about $35USD.

This is the book that first introduced me to network security. Actually all I wanted to do was learn how to hack my router, and I learned that and so much more. This single book has made me decide to pursue a career in information security. The book itself is written elegantly in very easily understandable terms. It assumes no prior knowledge to the topics included and it is very beginner friendly (as the title suggests.) The author is absolutely brilliant and it is worth noting that this author is the "security tube wifi security expert" course instructor (which I just enrolled in not long ago.) I think I've read this book twice from cover to cover, and probably 10 times over using it for reference. You start the book with no assumed knowledge of linux, backtrack, or wireless pentesting at all, and end the book with the knowledge to conduct a full penetration test on a wireless network from beginning to end. Highly recommend to anyone who wants to learn more about wireless network security. If there was a 10 start option i would have selected that.

This book is unique among its competitors for several reasons: First, it is written by two PhDs who happen to be educators and also two most published researchers in the field of respiratory care. Second, the chapters on basic principles are brief, easy to read, but still authoritative. The technical descriptions of how ventilators work (eg, mode classification) is state-of-the-art and consistent with the most recent respiratory care textbooks. The chapters on ventilator management practical and well-referenced. The chapters on monitoring have great graphics. I was a little disappointed in the two chapters on pulmonary mechanics, as I thought they were over-simplified. This is in view of the fact that the lead author has written an outstanding article on the subject (see Hess DR. Respiratory mechanics in mechanically ventilated patients. Respir Care 2014;59(11):1773-1794). One glaring omission from a book like this is a glossary. But all in all, this is currently the best book on the practical application of mechanical ventilation on the market.

Dean Hess and Bob Kaczmarek for 40 years have been a standard and on the cutting edge in Pulmonary research, publications, journals, and so on and this their 3rd edition on mechanical ventilation is no exception and is strongly recommended for Respiratory Therapists, Pulmonary / Critical Care Nurses, Medical Residents, Intensivists, even Pulmonologists for their total understanding and practical application on this comprehensive and critical subject.

I'm studying to become a critical nurse and because of lack of a good teacher i decided too buy a thoroughly book on this subject. This book has made all the things that i though was obscure to become more clearly.By the time I wrote this review I had not read the entire book. The review is only based on the first part, (1/4 too be more exactly), of the book.

Excellent text for a beginner or seasoned therapist. Well written, concise, a great reference. Written by pioneers in Respiratory Care.
