The characters are better developed, for sure. The story is intriguing, although sometimes confusing. There are still issues with names... I can see what he’s trying to do, but he doesn’t always follow through. This book, more than the first, was riddled with typos, extra words, and half sentences, making it harder to read. There was a lot of explaining in this book (about character traits, in particular) that I don’t think was needed as it got very repetitive (it’s like, ok I know elves have good hearing, you don’t need to say it every single time Marigold hears something). But, like I said, the characters are becoming more solid and likable, the plot was engaging, the descriptions are definitely better. I’ll probably read the 3rd installment when it comes out.

Great adventure and details describing the world the characters are stuck in.Not as many comic reliefs as in the first book but this one had more action than the first.I would recommend this book be read and I cannot wait for the next book to come out.

Not as much comedy as was in book one, but was still a great read and continuing of the storyline. I can't wait until Book 3 comes out! More please!

This book continues directly where the previous let off. If you enjoyed the first, you'll probably like this one. I thought it was a bit short for a novel, but it has a satisfactory ending. The characters gain in experience and in strength.

When I read this series. I always feel like I’m reading a fantasy story. It is Litrpg. There’s plenty of game mechanic talk and even though the character’s see their character sheets in their dreams this time around, the reader doesn't. However, much of the this still feels like a fantasy story.I think that’s because the larger world the story is set in, is 100% fantasy. It’s only among this group of people that talk of any of these RPG mechanics takes place. Anytime there’s an interaction with the rest of the world it takes place in a fantasy way. Even when the group of transported players talk to other people they’re forced by the world to speak in fantasy terms. No one ever asks for a +1 vorpal blade or asks for a aoe spell.Because of that, the story just feels less interesting to me. The actual story is very action adventure. Good fights. Decent, if heavily guided, story. But it just feels like it’s it’s trying hard to be LitRPG when the natural flow of the story is fantasy.Overall, not a bad story. If you liked book 1, you’ll like book 2. If you like much lighter RPG mechanics, you may enjoy this more than me. But it just didn't land with me.Score: 6 out of 10.

Its underlying C memory model ensures raw performance, its support for polymorphism enables object-oriented techniques, and its templates unleash an incredible code generation machine. Templates pervade all the code in the book because they allow close cooperation between the user and the library. The user of the library literally controls he way code is generated, in ways constrained by the library. The role of a generic component library is to allow user-specified types and behaviors to be combined with generic components in a sound design. Because of the static nature of the technique used, errors in mixing and matching the appropriate pieces are usually caught during compile time. This, alas, means that many current compilers cannot cope with parts of it. I implemented and tested Loki using Metrowerks CodeWarrior Pro 6.0 and Comeau C++ 4.2.38, both on Windows. It is likely that KAI C++ wouldnt have any problem with the code, either. As vendors release new, better compiler versions, you will be able to exploit everything Loki has to offer. The material presented in this book is mainly for library writers and senior developers who are in charge of software design. Having said that, the material here is unlike you'll find in any other book. Author discusses design and implementation of reusable components like a (very sophisticated) singleton, visitor, generalized functors, smart pointers, etc. I found discussions on smart pointers and singleton to be particularly enlightening. Its amazing how a simple design pattern like singleton could have so many intricacies.But the chapter which blew me away was that of typelists, and what author achieves by using simple metaprogramming constructs (although I would be the first one to admit that a mere mortal software developer like myself would not be using typelists everyday, but its still fun to learn about them).This book is very different from whatever material I had read earlier on C++. Do read this book once you are familiar with topics like templates, common design patterns and smart pointers.

This was quite fantastic. However it is dated because his concepts got rolled into C++ 11, 14, 17.

Never has a professional/technical book made such an impact on me.I've had this book for many years,but decided to write this review only now because after so many years the pearls of this beautiful masterpiece are unfolding to me. If I love C++ it is because of Andrei Alexandrescu and his amazing book. I only wish that he would write some more books like this. If you find this book to be scary at first and hard to understand, I would like to encourage you to keep on reading and trying. You'll get it eventually and once you do, there is no way back :)

I remember reading this book for the first time about 7 yeas ago and feeling my head turn inside out. Upon re-reading it recently I found it exciting and very understandable. The techniques outlined in this book solve problems that no other techniques can resolve. I find it amazing what can be done with classes and functions that never even get constructed.Definitely gives a good coverage for all aspects of Meta Programming I think one of the measures of respect by which this book is regarded is how many of these pioneering techniques have made It into the Boost library.Thoroughly recommended for the intermediate to advanced programmer to have in his library. Even if you don't use C++.

Many years ago, I began to feel that the power of templates in C++ has not been fully exploited. In more recent years, the emergence of the STL has shown that templates can be used to great advantage for containers, allowing conceptually simple generic implementations to be reused in a wide variety of situations, with no run-time penalty. This advance only increased my sense that we haven't yet seen the full power of templates.Alexandrescue's remarkable work is, in my view, the most original and important advance in C++ since the STL. It has been an article of faith in the design patterns community that one can't implement a reusable design patterns library in any language, because each pattern has dozens of important variations, and an unlimited number of custom variations, all seemingly interdependent. Alexandrescue's work seriously challenges this assumption. He uses "policy classes" (explained in Chapter 1) together with many innovative template techniques to pull apart these interdependencies. The heart of the book describes in detail how he developed the "Loki" library containing many gang-of-four design pattern implementations. Loki's SmartPtr, one of the high points of the book, puts to shame the Standard C++ auto_ptr, which has been the state of the art until now.Even before Alexandrescue's work, templates provided C++ programmers with major advantages not available in "more modern" object-oriented languages such as Java and C#. Alexandrescue multiplies the existing advantages many times, facilitating dramatic increases in C++ programming productivity and quality. Isn't that what high-level language programming is all about?The only negative comment I have is not really a criticism of Alexandrescue's work, but of the deplorable state of C++ compiler implementations. Because many C++ compilers, especially the most popular ones, still do not fully support Standard C++, many of Alexandrescue's techniques cannot yet be used in many practical situations. I would like to think that the importance of supporting Alexandrescue's library will motivate compiler vendors to make the necessary, and long-overdue upgrades.

Once again, Julie Trettel writes a wonderful story. I love how Ruby jumps in with both feet not looking back. Her growth through the story is quite evident and makes for a story that flows very well. Bran, oh Bran...he's amazing a true struggle for him protecting Ruby and on his mission to kill Kelsey. He had me on edge through the whole story. He makes you love him even though you don't want him to succeed in his mission.If you love an edge of your seat paranormal romance with a great protagonist and heartbreaking hero I highly recommend checking out In Plain Sight!

Spoiler**********************FYI, I absolutely LOVE this series but this one is Not my favorite......at all. I was expecting some serious let downs, revenge(from Westin Pack), anger, turmoil and more anger(again from Westin and Collier Packs). I mean Bran could have killed Kelsey with the cake coupe, and not to be a spoil sport but Kyle just let's it go? I understand Bran and his part in the story, his was well written. But I was very disappointed with the way Kyle and mostly everyone else handled the truth. His one true mate and mother to his sons was almost killed twice by Bran, I was expecting a much bigger reaction to the truth. He's an alpha wolf shifter for crying out loud! Of course I was hoping for a HEA, but not like that. Bran didn't deserve forgiveness so easily, eventually? Yes.

This was another fantastic book in this amazing series. I absolutely loved everything about this book.

Ms. Trettel totally raised the bar on herself even, with this amazing new 6 star must read, IMHO! :D I was totally blown away with this fan-freaking-tastic PNR romantic suspense novel that grabbed me from the start & held on tight so that I read it in record time! "In Plain Sight" is the 3rd stand-alone phenomenal story in the Collier Pack world of shifters! I don't know how she comes up with each brand new & different story, relatable characters and fantastic descriptions with some surprise twists & turns, but I know that readers will be just as engaged, glued to their seats and turning pages fast like I did! :D I never write spoilers or recap blurbs, but even tho I always volunteer to read this author's amazing works, it is without any outside influences, and these are my honest feelings! Also, I usually buy most of her books whenever I can, so I can honestly recommend this to all adult 18+ fans of fiction & especially those who love fantasy, PNR and/or shifters! Now I can't wait for more, but of course I will!

Finally! Find out what happens when our heroine does what we all think we'd do, and NOT fight the mating bond. (Psst, trouble, lots of trouble.) Spies, witches, magic knives, instabond but not instaperfect-life, pregnant cows, steamy and sweet love, hopeless redemption, and a whole lot of Collier and Westin = one heck of a ride.Julie's books just get better and better.You won't regret picking this one, and you'll likely finish it in one sitting, too. I am upgrading my feedback from 2 to 4 stars. The overall content looks good, and the author states that he has upgraded the autoscale content (in which I called out gaps in my previous review). There is a real lack of PowerShell samples for AWS on the Internet so I give Ramesh credit for attempting to fill this void. Most topics are well-covered. It is not the author's fault that the Win10 Kindle Reader makes diagrams so small so I'm also upgrading a star for format and I'm going to buy the book in paper format to make it more readable. If the content is good and the format is good (in print form) then having a downloadable code snippet file per chapter would set this book up to be 5-stars.

The HVAC system is becoming one of the more durable areas of a vehicle while also becoming very complex with electronic controls, such as dual- and three-zone temperature controls. Also, the lingering effects of environmental regulations for chlorofluorocaxbon (CFC) and in the near future hydrochlorofluorocarbon (HCFC) reduction are causing refinements in HVAC system service procedures. This book will give you all you need to know to pass any ASE Cert test, trust me, i did. ALWAYS.Buy.USED. Who cares about condition or highlighter marks.. this is not a bible & your not a priest. It is a reference only that will sit on a shelf for years after you use it for a few days or weeks. Trust my advice. :) Very Pleased.

Includes everything you might ever want to know about alternative refrigerants, and converting older R12 to the newer R34. It even includes a list of the R12 compressors by make and model that are compatible with the newer R34. And includes all the pros and cons about making this conversion. I mention this because there is a lot of confusion on this on the forums I found online, and if you want to know it all about conversions and, actually anything else to do with A/C, then this book is what you are looking for.

Bought one of these used for school, great condition, no complaints. Much cheaper than buying new which are way over priced.

So there is plenty of great information in this book, and I learned a ton from reading it. I like the tech tips and very detailed facts. However this does not make up for how awfully this book is organized. Either someone was paid by the page, or the publisher decided it would be fun to shuffle around everything. Is there a reason why A/C Compressor styles are spread across two chapters, or could they have just gotten their own? Why is Cabin Filter removal arbitrarily stuffed in the middle of the Heating Fixes Chapter? Why must it cycle btween A/C to Heat every chapter, doesn't it make more sense to separate them entirely? I'm usually a very attentive reader, but I keep drifting when the subject matter is all over the place. Fix the structure of this book and it will be great, otherwise, buy a different one.
