This book was written by one of the noted Catholic theologians of the twentieth century, present at the Second Vatican Council and who continued to teach through his upper-80's."The Church We Believe In" looks at the four marks of the Church we have received from ancient times to see what Christians of different denominations understand about their meaning today. He seeks to find points of convergence for the denominations based on their common agreement. It is a unique contribution, an understanding of which can aid ecumenical dialogue.
Fr Sullivan provides a superb overview here of Catholic ecclesiology. He goes in to detail about how the Church of Christ is One, Holy, Catholic and Apostolic, yet in still an imperfect/incomplete sense.
