Cinnamon Miles is the cofounder of Liberty Jane Clothing, founded in 2008, and she is an official brand ambassador for Bernina USA, a premiere sewing machine company. Her sewing/design work started when she was just eight years old, as she learned sewing from her mom, who worked for a fashion designer in Los Angeles. This book has been a godsend for me. I recently took up sewing again after almost 40 years away from my machine, and this book has been a great refresher course for me. I love the project ideas for practicing each skill. I highly recommend this book for beginners and more experienced seamstresses alike!
This is thorough and well-written. The hubby decided that he wanted to dive into something creative. This book was chosen to get him going.We are completely happy with the book. It is simple to follow, easy to understand for the total beginner, and was priced very well. Plus, it covers topics beyond just getting the basics down. This is will a handy companion while he's sewing for a long time.
I can't recommend the Kindle version because there are no hyperlinked pages and neither the text nor the pictures can be enlarged. None of the usual font size and type options are available either. The only way to get to something from the table of contents is to page to it. I watched the refund window close, hoping the full version would be different from the sample. Silly, silly me.The content is worthy but getting easily from section to section is painful.
The writer of this book is a Bernina spokesperson and my guest is a teacher as well. Bernina is THE name in sewing and if you want a tutorial written for a complex process there is no better person to write it than a teacher.The pictures are clear and they match the instructions exactly. The instructions are concise and each page includes extra "bubbles" of additional helpful information that add to the understanding of each skill.The entire book is color coded making reading the book an intuitive learning experience. This book really does have it all and is a book that I know I will refer to for the rest of my life.I am a beginner. I am a retired teacher. I will eventually be proficient in basic sewing skills!
This is one of my favorites. Real pictures, not drawings..Very detailed.
I'm an idiot to think that a book for idiots would help me to learn how to machine sewing.PLEASE have some kind of basic training before spending $ for this book.
