Back in the '60s and '70s I bought most of the Sam Brown booklets from Edmund Scientific along with a 6 inch mirror grinding kit. Heady stuff for a 14 year old to take on single handed, but tremendously educational in ways that still help me in my job. Of course, technology marches on and the Dobsonian revolution has superseded much of what is in here. But the basics are still good to know. I still have the booklets but having all this in a single volume in good shape is a great resource at work. I've recommended it to younger engineers who have used portions as an introduction to optics and imaging.Highly recommended.

As a newbie in the world of amateur telescope makers, I found this book to be fantastic. I love the vintage feel of the drawings and the simple designs that could be improvised from the humblest of scrapings. From designs to theory this book covers it all.

He decides to keep her at arm's length.Dawn’s town doesn’t have that many eligible men after the Civil War, so she answers an advertisement for a bride. Her new husband says they will sleep in separate rooms until they become better acquainted, but he seems so distant. Doesn’t he even like her?This book didn’t have much depth, and I never really got into it. It also has a lot of mistakes and contradictions, as if it may have been too hurriedly written. A gelding was even called a “her.” In addition, it ended at 87%, making it about 53 pages long, a very short story indeed.

The idea of the book is fine, but the dialogue doesn't flow very well; it was a little choppy. Also, there were some times when the author would say one thing and then say something else the next time, such: "He was not as old as I had hoped", then on the next page say that he was an older man. Things like that drive me crazy, so I was only able to get through a couple of chapters.

I really enjoyed the story. Showed what it was like to arrive, not knowing exactly what to expect. Her having a heart to try to gain his acceptance and love. Not long long, not to short. Ended looking forward to all being well.I didn't read it to be critical because it was not perfectly written. The story was there regardless, and it was a good story.

The story line is good, but there are many errors. Words are sometimes missing to make the sentence clear, referring to a gelding as her, using the word mind instead of mine, and talking about holding an apple on a flat open hand so the the horse could crunch the fingers when it took the apple.

A very nice, clean story.

This was a sweet, clean, Christian romance. It's not preachy though. I enjoyed the storyline very much. I just wish it had an epilogue.

The grammatical errors, spelling errors, and other editing errors got in the way. The story plot was predictable. Not much substance.

This was a good short story. Written well. Mail order bride traveling with high hopes for a great marriage. Her husband showed a reserve towards her. Must read to get the happy ending

This book traces the main events in the life of Wes Skyles. It documents through him, the discovery of Florida's unique Karst topography and groundwater flow. Like many brilliant thinkers, Wes was often disbelieved in his information regarding his discoveries. Only years later have we realized that he was correct all along. Hopefully his seminal work, Water's Journey, will change the hearts and minds of citizens of Florida. We are lucky enough to have one of the most beautiful and available sources of groundwater, springs like Wakulla that we can only hope to restore to it's natural abundance and beauty after Wes proved how groundwater can flow. This is a must read for anyone who loves swimming, diving or the amazing nature along our coasts and within our state! As for the lack of color pictures in the book, go to the resources in the back and watch some of the many works he created. It would be impossible to get across in a photograph!

a good read, great literary content....however.....lots of black and white photos of wes and his gear,... which have been seen in hundreds of other dive books. NOT ONE SINGLE COLOR PHOTOGRAPHS OF HIS STUNNING UNDERWATER PHOTOS WHICH MADE HIM FAMOUS.....A serious oversight by the author and the publisher.

A well-written biography of an interesting guy most of us have never heard of. Really enjoyed it.

Very well written narrative captures Wes' incredible exploits as well as his commitment to protecting our springs and waterways. An exciting and inspirational reflection on an adventurous life well lived.

Good book about a great guy.

Drawn to the Deep is the story of the life and Lifework of Wes Skiles; a modern explorer and self made environmentalist, photographer and top notch cave diver. This book reads like an episode on the Discovery channel, keeping you engaged, on the edge of your seat at times and above all, educating you about the beauty and fragility of our natural resources. Can’t wait to go back and look up issues of the National Geographic magazines and see his work all over again! With the current news of toxic algae blooms in the waters of Florida, the timing of this book couldn’t be better! My wish would be for everyone, especially those in the Florida legislature, to read this book.

If you are interested in caving in Florida Wes was one of the great explorers. Worth the read!

This is a must read if you have ever considered buying into a partnership at an architecture firm. You owe it to yourself to do your homework and understand how the process works. Many young architects dream about hanging their shingle out but if you are unable to take that leap, the other way is to enter into a partnership or buy into a partnership at a firm.Understand the risks, and the ramifications.I have had my own sole proprietorship which I ran for seven years. I entered into several discussions with several small firms about becoming a partner but walked away from several of them because it wasn't much of a deal for me. I'm currently a principal at a larger firm. So take the time to read this cover to cover and then ask the right questions from the right financial consultants who know the field. If you do your homework, you will know the right time and value to make the right decision for yourself.

If you are either planning on selling your firm or buying into a firm I would recommend reading this book.

The book is small, but filled with very good information presented in an easy to understand format. Well worth the price.

Useful book - we need an australian equivalent. Well structured and easy to understand. I would recommend to anyone undergoing such a process.

I am treasurer of a small church, have an accounting background, and I have used quite a few different accounting software packages. While this book is fairly good, it is not updated for the current QuickBooks Online design which means you have to read the instructions in the book and then try to "translate" that into what you're actually seeing on the screen which may not be exactly as described in the book. So, the book may say "click on this button," but that button may no longer exist in the program, so you have to go looking for the new alternative. If this was just in one or two places, I wouldn't think twice about it, but it's pretty pervasive. The benefit of the book is that it does save you from having to figure out for yourself how to use QO for a non-profit (church). So, someone with some accounting and accounting software experience will probably be able to use this book successfully, but I am not sure someone without that background will be able to use this as well.

There ar not enough good books out there that really provide the tools to really help a non profit setup and maneuver through the complexities of quickbooks. It is frustrating to purchase books only to find out they don’t quite help you get the job done. This book is quite helpful, simple and an easy read for someone who does not have an accounting background.

I have found this book to be very helpful in organizing our non-profit. It will be helpful for the novice and business person that wishes to work the books in a non-profit. Helpful for the novice because it is simple to follow and gives ideas and reasons for good controls. The business person will learn the differences between business accounting and non-profits. Plus it is well laid out and easy to read. Thank you for this wonderful book, it is a real timesaver.

Very helpful, at first glance. Huge problem is that QBO updates constantly, so using a how-to book that is almost new is still out of date (screens depicted in book no longer match what you see on your monitor). That said, it's the best I've found for moving from old church software to QBO.

Detailed and informative about how to adjust QuickBooks for non profit. If a little dated. QuickBooks changes the online setup from time to time.

Don't even think about working with QuickBooks online for nonprofits without this book. This is especially true if you are setting up QuickBooks for the first time, transferring from the desktop version to the online version, or just generally new to using QuickBooks online for a nonprofit or church. I have the Kindle edition, so that I can open the book on the same computer I'm using for QuickBooks. The book isn't perfect, but it's indispensable. Some sections require re-reading more than once to understand. It would have been helpful if the authors walked the reader through some more examples. Combining the book with Google searches for specific QuickBooks questions helps a lot. Be sure to pay attention to the blue banners in the text... They contain critical information.

This book exceeded my expectations. It is my new "go to" reference guide for QBO. You will not be disappointed.
