Eric Mitchell is a member of the competitive BBQ team, Yabba Dabba Que. He has competed in the Jack Daniel's World Champion Invitational Barbecue competition twice and has competed in the American Royal Invitational. Yabba Dabba Que has won Big Green Egg's Iron Chef and People's Choice awards. Eric is also a certified judge by the Kansas City Barbecue Society. He owns six Big Green Eggs. Eric lives in Bedford, New Hampshire.

The Big Green Egg is a great cooking system. Instead, we opted for an outdoor kitchen with a conventional grill, an Evo Grill and a Tandoori Oven (Indian Clay lined oven similar in design to the Big Green Egg).This is book covers everything from smoking, searing to grilling. The recipes are easy to understand and the ingredients are things that can be easily found in common grocery stores. Photographic quality is excellent.Overall, it's a great book for cooking with these alternative systems

My bookcases are filled with cookbooks. Never have I read one from cover to cover, that is, until now. Eric not only includes recipes that are easy to follow and look delicious, the first and last sections of the book provide helpful hints from firing up to extinguishing. He has numerous time and money saving ideas spread throughout.This weekend I cooked the Competition Boston Pork Butt, Aunt Bette's Dutch Oven Baked Beans, Zucchini Boats and Cindi's Slaw [not in the egg], all in my Big Green Egg. All I heard from my guests was "YUM". I was worried about the pork butt being too large [20-24 servings], but my 6 guests went back for 2 and 3 helpings each! I have about 1/3 of the roast left and was going to freeze it, but am noticing slices disappearing :-)The only question I have about the pork was how to achieve the crispy bits that I see in Eric's picture. I wonder if by mistake I inverted the roast [fat side down] and maybe that prevented it from crisping up. Please understand, it was delicious as is. My husband just likes the crispins.Do not hesitate to purchase this book. You will not be disappointed! I think this weekend I will try the scallops!Thanks Eric. I hope there are more cookbooks to come!

This book was highly recommended by a Big Green Egg group on Facebook, and they were not wrong. We had bought the official BGE book, which wasn't as useful as I would have liked. But this one, with just a few pages of reading, my husband declared had taught him more than any other source had for our egg.We have used the recipes for chicken wings, ribs, and brisket, and with the exception of the latter, the meat has turned out amazingly. With the brisket, we think it's been user error thus far. Definitely a must buy if you have any type of kamado type grill.

Love, Love, Love this book! So much more than a cookbook! The author provides very detailed instructions for every aspect of green egg smoking and cooking. Now all the other egg cookbooks I’ve bought seem like a waste. This is the best grilling, smoking, cooking egg book I’ve seen. It makes the whole process easier and the recipes I’ve tried are truly delicious.

Great recipes for the Green Egg, Kamado Joe or Kamado Vision. The use of coffee grinds was new to me and to my surprise it works very well and gives a particular taste. I must confess I was apprehensive when I used it the first time, but no worries once you are done. I do grind my coffee very fine. I don't know if that is critical but it works for me.The other recipes are great to. The text is easy to follow and the pictures makes your mouth water. This method of grilling opens a whole new world . I will never go back to conventional barbecues. There is no comparison.

I smoke a lot of meat and have been smoking for at least five years on a variety of gear (and on and off for 20 years). I do not own a Green Egg, but I consider this book to be the best single source smoking book I have seen. I have recommended this book to numerous people who are using any kind of ceramic grill. I have an inexpensive kamado called Akorn (Char Griller product).If you can control temperature on whatever you are using to smoke, this book has great recipes, cooking time and techniques. If you have a Green Egg and you are new to it, you need this book.

Great book for familiarizing yourself with the egg, I have made it my mission to complete every recipe and I have already pre-ordered Eric's next book. Very detailed and simple instruction for operating your Kamado Grill. As far as the recipes - I found that there are actually quite a few that I would take down the "Flavor" and I simply use salt and pepper in most of my cooking - so I didn't follow a lot of the seasoning recommendations... But, I love the instructions! I prefer simple seasoning versus the extensive selection of marinades in this book. That being said, I have learned so much from the author and this cookbook has now been repurchased more than once as a gift to friends.

This book was a gift for my father. The font is a little small for senior eyes, but the pictures and information are perfect for anyone learning to master a ceramic egg-shaped smoker. Highly recommend this book. Recipes are delicious!
