These are step by step her work routine and experience. She book down things from items you need to get started, analyzing your area to find what to buy, in the end, she also taught about hiring several people. So you dont have to do everything yourself. The reason to hire several people so that nobody learns everything. If they do learn everything, eventually they will do it themselve. By dividing into several people, everyone becomes loyal and work for you.Lots of solid advice, totally recommend.

I should add that I'm 70 and have been reading about this subject for 50+ years.I have had the pleasure of visiting 5 caves in France with prehistoric drawings. At each one I was very impressed, though that is a very weak word to use. Basically the hair on the back of my neck stood up. These cave paintings make an impression! And yet I never thought to myself, "Where are the dogs???" But Shipman makes that point--all the other animals are there in almost infinite variety. But no dogs (or wolves, if you prefer). To me the issue is the definition of the word "prove." As new techniques are discovered they show that what was once accepted as "proof" or a "fact" has now been replaced by a new "proof" or "fact." (For example, it was a "fact" that modern humans didn't have any Neanderthal DNA. But oops, then they discovered modern man DOES have Neanderthal DNA.) So knowledge progresses and develops. Makes sense to me. Shipman makes no bones about calling this book a theory or hypothesis. It fits the known facts, and as far as I can see, it doesn't leave out any contrary evidence. Does she "prove" her theory? Not in a mathematical sense, but certainly she shows it's plausible!One quibble, which I've had with other books about this period: An expert might be familiar with all the dates and terms ("MIS 3" etc.), but not general readers like me. It would have been invaluable to make a chronological chart showing climate change, the major volcanic eruptions, the domestication of dogs, goats, etc., the appearance of modern man in Europe, etc. etc. Then you could see at a glance what was going on and when.

I read a lot of this sort of book--kind of have a left-over-from-University interest, you might say.This one's central theme: humans are invasive species. Teamed up with another pack animal. Not a bad take on how people have spread across the world, but I didn't think the case was quite proven.I also didn't think the invasive-top-predator argument was fully supported. It's fine to quote stats from reintroductions of wolves and so forth, quite another to provide evidence from the few bones and tools (and they are few, really) available to examine.And.. I always wonder why these researchers seem to miss or ignore the ONE thing we do have some evidence for as humans from one area enter another populated area: epidemic disease. 'Worked' for the conquistadors, didn't it? 'Worked' very well in N. America. If you more than decimate a population, the remnants may dwindle more quickly than otherwise expected.So I think I'd have liked to see a broader more comprehensive view--rather than a defense of a single, sliiiightly improbably but interesting theory.The bit about dogs, though....very well put.

What is there to say. Krugman and co-authors are leaders in their field. They write clearly, have material that is state-of-the-art in International Economics. Krugman's other etexts/ebooks are excellent as well.

It's not Kindle friendly. I have to keep zooming in and out, and moving the page left and right when I use it. It's very inconvenient.

The all-encompassing knowledge presented is the most impressive I've ever seen in a technical book.However, after 400+ pages in, I realized I really wasn't learning PL/SQL. I was reading a lot and trying to digest as much as I could, but actual information retention was not happening. When I bough the book, I was looking for a similar resource as when I became certified in Oracle SQL: a guide to teach me via a sample schema which would allow me to code at an increasingly sophisticated level. Learn the basics, practice, and become confident enough to develop more complex queries is the way I need to learn.One issue that became increasingly frustrating for me was the use of concepts in sample code before a novice like myself even understands the concept. Core PL/SQL features such as packages, procedures, and triggers are not even covered until more than halfway through the book. However, features such as PL/SQL blocks, records, and collections are explained via sample code using procedures, packages, and triggers. Therefore, I'm trying to understand how code works regarding a concept which has not yet been explained nor whose syntax do I understand.Judging by its reputation, this is a much beloved reference guide and I am sure one that I will come to appreciate once I have an understanding of the PL/SQL language. However, there are better books, IMO, for learning programming concepts without feeling overwhelmed.

This book is fantastic and in my opinion would be a good fit for a beginner who already has some SQL knowledge. This would be a good reference to have for any new PL/SQL developer or someone who wants to enhance their knowledge and use of Oracle database. I would recommend this as a starting point or baseline THEN (not before) using the web to get your information for more complex topics. Approaching PL/SQL in the right order will help you avoid mistakes down the line and enable you to know what to not copy and paste from the web. Oracle's website has a ton of great information, but having a book like this with examples and further explanations comes in very handy when getting exposed to/learning PL/SQL.

This book is awesome. I think the title should be 'Applied Oracle PL/SQL' though because it doesn't just explain core concepts or theory as I find in many other books, it actually walks you through the mind of a developer as s/he analyses and apply PL/SQL to solve real world business problems.

More PL/SQL for Oracle than stored procedures. More of writing code inside of a stored procedure or function call inside Oracle. Its i more in depth then I needed. I needed more information on working with Oracle from an outside perspective call the stored procedure, passing in parameters, returning record sets. This book has it but needs to expand on some things more, need more examples for quicker reference. I am use to MSSQL which is more intuitive than Oracle, but I am stuck with what is implemented. I find it interesting that when viewing a table of data from Oracle that is doesn't pull back the table ordered by the ID field, also version 11 doesn't auto increment the ID field or Key field. One has to write extra triggers and such which is old minded in my mind since other databases auto increment as a basic function. I read that version 12 now auto increments.

All Feuersteins books are five star. This one is no exception
